Wooden Chests

Wood chests are ideal for both storage and decor.

Wooden chests make excellent storage boxes and can be used in any room. They look good and can be chosen to match the decor. Whether it is for the bedroom, laundry, lounge room, or children’s play room, it is the ideal storage solution.

When you look around at the huge range available you will soon learn that there are many styles, so there is lots of choice when you shop for wooden chests. There is a very big range of wood colors to choose from and you might want to opt for a light, pine colored wooden chest made from white wood at the bottom of the scale, or a heavy mahogany, cedar, or oak wooden chest. It really depends on how you want to use your wooden chests.

Before buying you need to decide what type of wooden storage chests you need. For example, if you want a wood chest to use as a toy box in a child’s room, you might look for something with a lightweight, easy to open lid that has protection for tiny fingers. It is possible to get wooden boxes with padded lids so that they are less likely to injure small hands. If you are quite handy with a screw driver you might even want to buy your wooden chests as flat packed, build it yourself items. These generally save quite a lot of money but take time to build.

Make sure that the wooden storage chests you are thinking of buying are solidly made and will stand up to a lot of wear and tear, especially if they are likely to be opened frequently and used to store everyday items. Look inside and make sure that the bottom and sides are properly fixed and do not have rough edges. A cheap, poorly made wooden chest is likely to come apart if you fill it up and open and close the lid a lot. Check that the wooden chest you buy is strong enough to do the job.

If money is not a problem then you might want to buy wooden chests that are not only functional, but real works of art too. Carved mahogany, or rosewood carved with an oriental design may well be the perfect addition to your lounge room. If it is clean cut lines that you prefer then black ash, or plain limed wood may be your choice. The chances are that you will know what you want your wooden chests for before you go out to buy one, but you will probably change your mind about the style a few times before you decide.

Take a look on the interest and do a quick search on wooden chests to see the huge range that is available out there and to get an idea of what you should expect to pay. Obviously this will vary from a few dollars for a small set of wooden chests to store cosmetics in, up to hundreds, or even thousands of dollars for hand carved mahogany wooden chests.
